Heart to Heart

“ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Mathew 6:21

Have you ever heard of the saying, “Home is where the heart is?” What is the condition of your heart? Where does your seat of all emotions, intent, and conscience find its dwelling place? Whether you find solace in your career, food, spouse, finances, ministry, entertainment, just plain old “adulting”, or all of the above; we lose sight of the greatest anchor and safe harbor for our souls—in the secret place of the Most High.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

And God’s peace (shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is that peace) which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Phillipians 4:6-7 Amp

When we hear of wars and rumors of wars, eminent famine, destruction, distractions, white-walkers in tow, and the sky is falling; we shouldn’t seek out Chicken Little, we should make a mad dash to our Father in Heaven. We should become seeker friendly, just make sure to seek peace in God, not man or the many nomenclatures that satisfy the moment. God’s peace which passes all understanding is extended to His children—meaning peace is supernatural. This gift from heaven will become a hedge around our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. The only way to endure the ebbs and flows of life is to remain in constant communication with God through prayer. Prayer changes things.

“And being in an agony (of mind), He prayed (all the ) more earnestly and intently, and His sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground.”

Luke 22:44 Amp

When Jesus was in agony of mind and heart He went before His Father in prayer. He agonized over His assignment so much so His sweat was tantamount to clots of blood dropping on the ground. That moment of time in the dwelling place of the Lord, carried Him through persecution, death, and resurrection for the world. Prayer strengths us to face opposition and carry us through to a victorious finish line.

When the voice of the enemy grows louder and you find yourself surrounded by fear and anxiety, sit at the feet of Jesus. Examine your heart and cast all of your cares before the Lord. Allow His Word to penetrate your heart as you make a place where faith can thrive. Take refuge in Him as He surrounds you with His presence. In Him you will never hunger nor thirst because He is the bread of Heaven and the living water. Become a sheltered child because God shelters His children. Take comfort and keep your heart firmly fixed in the place where all solace began, at Home with the Father.
